Joe Getty: I went off to the funeral of my uncle. My flight was two hour delayed, it was snowing at the Denver Airport. When it starts snowing there,
When I got to Denver, all flights were cancelled. No one is going anywhere. The Denver airport is enormous, and packed full of people going no where. But, throughout the day they'd reschedule flights, and you'd have to wait around to find out the info. Constant lines at the customer service. Next flight, then delayed, delayed, delayed, then cancel.
So I decide that late in the day Monday, the funeral aint going to happen, because I needed to fly to Kansas city, and then drive 5.5 hours. Then my goal is to come back.
You didn't want to languish in the Denver airport?
Do I decide I'm just going to try to get back somehow. They start running flights late on Monday night. They had a plane going to Vegas. I am going to go to Vegas, and then rent a car and drive, and I'd have to land in Vegas, and book a flight. The whole country was skewed up. I was either going to fly to vegas and fly back from there, or drive back.
But when it is announced, everybody in the airport runs to get onto that flight. So I get on that flight, and then it is delayed by 2.5 hours.
I was just so flipping tired.
And all flights were already booked up. I was trying to get a voucher of some sort because I didn't use the rest of my flight. They said the flight back to California ended up taking off, and since you didn't use that flight, no voucher. I had been sitting around all day with California flights being cancelled. How long was I supposed to wait?
And I am flying Frontier, the customer service everywhere was so helpful. But Denver was a hub. The only way to do it was to fly back to Denver, then back to California.
So I didn't go to the funeral, and the total cost was $1000. I went to Denver sat around all day long in the airport, went to Vegas and stay in a crappy hotel, didn't do anything.
The airport was so full of people, the lines at the customer service desk, were like a half mile long.
And you get to the front of the line and they tell you that you can't do what you want to do. Your describing the line gives me such a dose of unhappy.
So many people trying to keep their kids amused all day long.

Joe Getty: I was thinking of all things I could have bought with a $1000 if I was just going to throw away $1000.
Every restaurant was full.
I've never been on a plane that is being deiced. It's freezing rain, snow, ice everywhere. I wouldn't drive on that road, but they are trying to run a plane down that runway!
