• How do I change the copyright message and footer shown on the pages?
  • Answer: The common format of the website pages is defined in the Default.Master page. This is using a new feature in .NET 2.0 called "Master pages". Steps to change the footer:
    • Open the Personal Website Starter Kit solution in the development studio.
    • Select the page Default.master
    • Click the design mode tab at the bottom of the VStudio webpage.
    • Edit the footer text, and other common text
• How do I change the title shown on the webpages from "Your Name Here" to the name I want to give my website?
  • You must go to each page of the site to individually change them. Go to the Solution Explorer and open the .ASPX pages one by one (Albums.aspx, Default.aspx, Links.aspx, Photos.aspx, Register.aspx, Resume.aspx, etc.) You won't need to look at Details.aspx, Download.aspx, Handler.ashx, or Global.asax.
  • Are you too lazy to do manually change all these pages? Then use a PreRender?Create eventhandler in the Master Page, Default.master, and you can use this to change the title in all the pages that use the master page. Here is how:
    • Open the Default.master.cs and create a constructor Default_master:

 public Default_master()
    {
      this.PreRender+=new EventHandler(this.Default_master_PreRender);
    }

• You also need to add the event handler itself:

    private void Default_master_PreRender(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
      if (this.Page.Title.StartsWith("Your Name Here |"))
      {
          this.Page.Title = this.Page.Title.Replace("Your Name Here |", "Garnet Chaney |");
      }
    }

• How about putting the name to use in the titles into the web.config file?
  • Place this section in the web.config file:

• Change the event handler code to read the title:
