REM Sleep-Related Sinus Arrest

In this rare disorder, the heart will sometimes stop beating during REM sleep. These heart stoppages can last for as long as nine seconds. The cause of this disorder is unknown, but it is different than the cardiac arrest caused by sleep apnea.

This disorder is a type of parasomnia usually associated with REM sleep.
