A very readable book on sleep from the one of the pioneers of sleep research. I have listened to him speak at different groups, and he keeps the audience very interested. Dr. Dement has several fascinating stories of people who improved their lives dramatically after he was able to help them cure their sleep problems.Sadly, Dr. Dement points out many times, in his book and speeches, that the average physician misses the clues of many cases of sleep problems among their patients. Dr. Dement firmly believes that depression, high blood pressure, and other cardiac problems can be caused by improper sleep. According to Dr. Dement, anyone who snores at night, and often feels tired during the day, should be evaluated for sleep problems, such as sleep apnea. By reading this book, you'll be able to help your physician better understand your symptoms that cause your tiredness. And you'll learn about proper sleep hygiene, and you'll better understand this fascinating and vital process called sleep. Other good books on sleep:
